Celebrations of Ayurveda Day-2023

The celebrations of Ayurveda Day-2023 with the theme " Ayurveda for Everyone on Everyday" were held at the Embassy of India in Antananarivo on 08 November 2023.

2. The event was graced by Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defense, Maj.Gen. Ramasy Razafindratovo Heritiana, Director General of Healthcare Provision in the Ministry of Public Health Dr. Rado Razafimahatratra, President of the Scientific Committee at the Malagasy Institute Applied Research Prof. Herintsoa Rafatro, Representatives of National Assembly of Madagascar and the Members of Indian Community.

In his speech, Ambassador Bandaru Wilsonbabu noted that “Ayurveda” (knowledge of life) is an ancient healing science deeply rooted in the civilization of India and since 2016, the birthday of Sage Dhanwantari, the "Father of Ayurveda" is being celebrated as "Ayurveda Day" in India. Referring to the ancient Indian philosophy of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (The whole earth is one family), Ambassador reiterated India's readiness to share its developmental expertise and experience with Madagascar in various fields, including Ayurveda. He also indicated the Embassy's readiness to work closely with the Ministry of Public Health and other relevant agencies in Madagascar, to further strengthen bilateral cooperation on Ayurveda and Traditional Malagasy Medicine.

4. A special presentation on the history and practice of Ayurveda was made by Teacher of Indian Culture Dr. Yogendra Singh. A film on Ayurveda as well as exhibitions on Ayurvedic products and millets were also showcased on the occasion.
