Official Visit of Hon'ble Raksha Rajya Mantri (Minister of State for Defence of India) Shri Sanjay Seth, Antananarivo, 25-27 June 2025


Hon’ble Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Sanjay Seth led a high-level Indian delegation on an official visit to Antananarivo from 25-27 June 2025, at the invitation of the Minister of Armed Forces of Madagascar Lt. Gen. Sahivelo Lala Monja Delphin.

2. On 25 June 2025, Hon’ble Raksha Rajya Mantri took part in an Indian Community Reception organized by the Embassy in Antananarivo. He briefed the Members of Indian Diaspora and Friends of India in Madagascar on the recent developments in India and also about the economic transformation currently underway in India under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He also witnessed the display of fireworks organized in Antananarivo in the evening of 25 June 2025.

3.  On 26 June 2025, Hon’ble Raksha Rajya Mantri represented India at the celebrations of the 65th anniversary of Independence Day of Madagascar and the creation of Malagasy Armed Forces. He also took part in a dinner hosted by the Minister of Armed Forces Lt. Gen. Sahivelo Lala Monja Delphin in the evening of 26 June 2025. 

4.  On 27 June 2025, Hon’ble Raksha Rajya Mantri   had a bilateral meeting with Minister of Armed Forces Lt. Gen. Sahivelo Lala Monja Delphin and discussed ways to further enhance defence cooperation between India and Madagascar, especially in the fields of maritime security and capacity building. He also paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister of Madagascar H.E. Mr. Christian Ntsay on 27 June 2025 and conveyed warm greetings from the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the Independence of Madagascar.

5.  As close neighbours and fellow developing countries in the Indian Ocean Region, India and Madagascar share longstanding bonds of friendship and people-to-people linkages. India will remain a reliable and committed partner in the developmental journey of Madagascar. The visit of Hon’ble Raksha Rajya Mantri has reaffirmed India’s desire to further strengthen its partnership with Madagascar, in line with Vision MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions).
