Celebrations of the 11th International Day of Yoga in Antananarivo

The Embassy of India organized the celebrations of 11th International Day of Yoga under the theme "Yoga for one Earth, one Health" at the Alarobia Stadium in Antananarivo on 21 June 2025.

2. The event was graced by President of the Senate of Madagascar H.E. Mr. Richard Ravalomanana, President of the Senate H.E. Mr. Richard Ravalomanana, Minister of Youth and Sports H.E. Mr. Abdulah Marson Mustapha, First Quaestor of National Assembly Mr. Rivotiana Richard Jean Bosco, Governor of Diana Region  Mr. Taciano Rakotomanga, Mayor of Antananarivo  Mrs. Harilala Ramanantsoa, Deputy General Rapporteur of National Assembly Mr. Raholijaona Harson, President of India-Madagascar Friendship Group in the National Assembly Mr. Andrianasolo Augustin. Around 350 members of India Community and Friends of India enthusiastically took part in the event. 

3. In his speech, Minister of Youth and Sports H.E. Mr. Abdulah Marson Mustapha emphasized the importance of Yoga as a source of inner peace and serenity, in a world marked by anxiety and stress. He also encouraged the youth of Madagascar to regularly practice Yoga. Mayor of Antananarivo Mrs. Harilala Ramanantsoa expressed the commitment of the city of Antananarivo to cooperate with the Embassy of India to promote the health benefits of Yoga. Ambassador Bandaru Wilsonbabu noted that over the past 10 years Yoga has grown into a global movement for holistic wellness. He said that in today’s world full of the challenges of wars, ethnic conflicts, terrorism, climate change, lifestyle diseases etc. Yoga could promote peace and harmony among individuals and nations. 

4. The vibrant celebrations of 11th International Day of Yoga in Antananarivo reflect the long-standing friendship and people-to-people linkages between India and Madagascar. As a close neighbour and a fellow developing country in the Indian Ocean Region, India will continue to share its developmental experience and expertise with Madagascar, in line with Vision MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions).
