India-SADC Business Forum in Antananarivo, 31 July 2025


An “India-SADC Business Forum” was organised on 31 July 2025 in Antananarivo jointly by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and Southern African Development Community (SADC) Business Council, Federation of Chamber of Commerce of Madagascar (FCCIM) and the Economic Development Board of Madagascar (EDBM), with the support of the Ministry of Industrialization and Trade of Madagascar and the Embassy of India, as part of the SADC Industrialisation ( 28 July - 1 August 2025 ).  

2. The event was graced by the Minister of Industrialization and Trade of Madagascar H.E. Mr. David Ralambofiringa, Director General of EDBM Mrs. Josielle Rafidy, Incoming Chairperson of SADC Business Council Dr. Gervais Atta, Leader of the FICCI Delegation Mr. Rajiv Wahi, First Vice-President of FCCIM Mrs. Murielle Ho Mou Chine and other dignitaries.  A 15 member Indian business delegation from FICCI as well as several representatives of the local businesses actively took part in the event.

3. In his address Minister of Industrialization and Trade H.E. Mr. David Ralambofiringa, called for greater synergy and collaboration between India, Madagascar and SADC for mutual benefit and economic growth in the region. He mentioned about economic complementarities and called for enhanced investments by Indian businesses in Madagascar in the areas of agribusiness, food processing, renewable energy, manufacturing etc.

4. In his speech, Ambassador Bandaru Wilsonbabu congratulated the Government of Madagascar on its forthcoming Presidency of SADC and spoke   about the economic transformation currently underway in India.  He highlighted the opportunities for India – SADC cooperation in the fields of Agriculture, Healthcare, Renewable Energy and Digital Public Infrastructure.   He reaffirmed India’s readiness to share its developmental experience and expertise with Madagascar and other SADC members, in line with the ancient philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (The World is One Family) and Vision MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth for All in the Region). The event also witnessed screening of a short film on the tourism potential of India as well as yoga and Indian dance performances.
