Celebrations of the 77th Republic Day of India

The Embassy of India celebrated the 77th Republic Day of India with great passion and patriotism in Antananarivo on 26 January 2026. The celebrations were attended by the members of Indian Diaspora and Friends of India in Madagascar.

2. The celebrations commenced with the unfurling of the Tricolor by Charge d’Affaires Mr. Kiran Chander. After the singing of the National Anthem, Charge d’Affaires read out the address of Hon'ble President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu to the nation. Hon'ble President acknowledged the courage of India’s armed forces, the dedication of farmers and the rising power of women. In his speech, Charge d’Affaires highlighted the scholarships and trainings being given to the students and Malagasy officers which help in gaining personal and professional growth and development and appreciated the accomplishments of local Indian Diaspora. The event included a Yoga demonstration by former yoga students, some beautiful classical dance performances and singing of patriotic songs by the Embassy Staff, Hindi students and representatives of the Indian Diaspora. The participants enjoyed clicking pictures with the selfie-photo booth depicting tourist destinations in India as well as the standees which showcased various Indian States.

3. A flag exhibition was also showcased during the event. The event concluded with the serving of Indian tea and tasting of traditional Indian snacks.
