Celebration of the 7th Ayurveda Day and National Unity Day 2022

The 7th Ayurveda Day as well as the National Unity Day were celebrated at the Embassy of India Antananarivo on 28 October 2022. It was attended by the senior officials of Ministry of Public Health and Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Government of Madagascar, ITEC/ICCR alumni, yoga and Ayurveda practitioners in Madagascar.
 
The event started with floral tributes to the portrait of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel by the Ambassador, the Embassy officials and other guests. A short movie on the life of Sardar Patel was also screened on this occasion. A photo exhibition depicting memorable events of the life of Sardar Patel were also showcased during the event. 

Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Bandaru Wilsonbabu said- “Vallabhbhai Patel, also known as Sardar Patel was the first Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of India and was instrumental in the integration of several princely states into the Union of India. Sardar Patel is affectionately remembered as the “Iron Man of India” for his role in the integration of the nation and also as the “Father of Indian Civil Services”.

“In 2014, the Government of India decided to observe the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as the ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ (National Unity Day) on 31st October every year”, Ambassador said.

Mentioning the importance of celebrating National Ayurveda Day, Ambassador said- “The word Ayurveda denotes the knowledge system of healthy and happy life. The theme of the 7th Ayurveda Day is “Ayurveda Every day- Ayurveda Everywhere”.  Ayurveda is one of the most well documented systems of traditional medicine, which is equally relevant in modern times, wherein prevention of disease and promotion of health are given due consideration.”
A special presentation on important aspects of Ayurveda was made by Dr. Yogendra Singh, Yoga Teacher at the Embassy. A special exhibition of Ayurvedic products was also organized during the event.
