Celebration of Indian States Promotion Event 2024

entitled "Partnership for Growth: Indian States-Madagascar" in Antananarivo

Embassy of India, Antananarivo in association with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of Madagascar organized an Indian States Promotion Event entitled "Partnership for Growth: Indian States-Madagascar" in Antananarivo on 29 February 2024.

2. The special event was graced by the Foreign Minister of Madagascar, H.E.Mrs. Rasata Rafaravavitafika, Chairperson of India-Madagascar Friendship Group in the National Assembly of Madagascar H.E. Mrs. Lanto Rakotomanga, 6 Members of the National Assembly, Chairman of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry Mr.Laou-Po Wing Wilfrid and other dignitaries. The event saw participation of more than 100 representatives of the local businesses and Ministries/ Agencies. 

3. The event began with the screening of video on historic landing of Chandrayaan-3 on Moon and promotional videos of 6 Indian States (Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka and Kerala) followed by yoga performance and a few folk dances from different States of India.

4. Mr.Laou-Po Wing Wilfrid, Chairman of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry spoke on the importance of enhancing relations between the Malagasy private sector with the companies in India.  He hoped to better understand Indian market and establish partnerships with Indian economic operators.

5. Foreign Minister of Madagascar, Mrs. Rasata Rafaravavitafika said "today's event as part of the 'One Country, One Day' initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will serve as an important platform for dialogue between Malagasy private sector and Indian States." She hoped that it will also serve as a catalyst for implementation of industrialization in Madagascar, one of the 03 pillars of the development policy of the Republic of Madagascar. She further acknowledged India's support through multi-sectoral cooperation projects in areas such as food self-sufficiency, capacity building through the ITEC training programs, digital transformation and industrialization.

6. Ambassador Bandaru Wilsonbabu made a presentation on the opportunities for trade-economic cooperation between Madagascar and 6 Indian States (Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka and Kerala) on the western part of India, which are geographically closest to Madagascar. 

7. The event also witnessed a special millets exhibition and showcasing of Indian products from different States of India.
