Trade Promotion Activity on 19th February 2016

The Embassy of India in Antananarivo, in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce & Industries of Antananarivo organized a Trade Promotion Activity “India-Madagascar, Partners for Progress”, on 19th February, 2016 at 3.00 p.m. at the Chamber premises in Antaninarenina. The event was co - chaired by the Ambassador of India HE Mr. Chandra Ballabh Thapliyal and Senator Rakotozafy Jean Martin, President of Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Antananarivo. The seminar was attended by more than 60 Malagasy as well as Indian businessmen. Ambassador of India made a power point presentation showing opportunities for import, export and investment between India and Madagascar. Ambassador also explained the DFTP (Duty Free Tariff Preference) Scheme for the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) agreed to under the WTO (World Trade Organization) by India and benefits available to Madagascar under the scheme. He called upon the Malagasy exporters to take full benefit of the scheme so that their exports could increase. A question-answer session was also held in the end to ascertain the problems being faced by importers and exporters from both the countries so that a solution to the same could be found. It was decided to hold more of such sessions in the near future.
