Visit of Indian Naval Ship “Sumedha” to Antsiranana, 4-6 December 2023

As a symbol of India-Madagascar friendship, Indian Naval Ship "Sumedha" paid a visit to the port of Antsiranana (Diana Region) from 4-6 December 2023.

2. On 4 December 2023, Ambassador Bandaru Wilsonbabu and the Ship's Commanding Officer Cdr. M.C. Chandeep paid a courtesy call on Secretary General Mr. Tilahizandry Niaina Angelo and other civilian and military dignitaries of the Diana Region.

3. On 5 December 2023, Secretary General Mr. Tilahizandry Niaina Angelo and other dignitaries of Diana Region took part in a Special Yoga Session at Antsiranana Port. During the visit, personnel of Indian and Malagasy Navies engaged in professional interactions/ exchange of best practices. A special event to promote trade-economic cooperation of the Indian States of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka and Kerala with the Diana Region of Madagascar was also organized by the Embassy, coinciding with the visit of INS Sumedha to Antsiranana on 5 December 2023. The 5-member Indian Navy Mobile Training Team (INMTT) departed on 6 December 2023, on board INS Sumedha, after imparting professional trainings to the personnel of Malagasy Navy.

4. The port call of INS Sumedha to Antsiranana helped to further strengthen India- Madagascar partnership and Vision SAGAR (Security And Growth for All in the Region). It also helped to reaffirm India's commitment to be a reliable partner in the developmental journey of Madagascar.
