The Mission organized celebrations of “Hindi Diwas 2026” on 14 September 2026 at the Chancery, which was graced by the presence of Secretary General of the Ministry of Culture and Communication Mrs. Ramangason Tahina, Director of Multilateral Relations from Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mrs. Tahina Rasamoelina, members of the Indian diaspora and the friends of India.
In his speech, Chargé d’Affaires recalled the role of Hindi in promoting cultural understanding and strengthening the longstanding friendship between India and Madagascar. He highlighted that the Embassy’s free Hindi classes provide Malagasy students with an opportunity to learn the language and gain a deeper appreciation of Indian culture. He expressed his appreciation to the students and the Hindi teacher for their continued interest and efforts in promoting Hindi. He concluded by reaffirming the importance of cultural exchanges in further strengthening India-Madagascar relations.
In her speech, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Culture and Communication Mrs. Ramangason Tahina, highlighted the importance of Hindi Diwas in preserving and promoting language, culture and identity from one generation to the another and emphasized that culture serves as an important pillar of diplomacy by bringing people and communities closer together. She expressed appreciation to the Embassy of India and ICCR for strengthening cultural exchanges and providing opportunities for Malagasy artists to participate in cultural events in India.
In the run-up to the celebrations, the Embassy organized various competitions, including singing, recitation of Bollywood movie dialogues, painting, poem recitation, Hindi speech and quiz competitions, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from members of the Indian community, Hindi students, as well as Friends of India from Madagascar, showcasing their creativity, talent and keen interest in Indian language and culture. The winners and participants were felicitated and presented with certificates and gifts during the celebrations.
The event featured showcase of vibrant Indian dance along with heartfelt recitations of Hindi poems by the participants. A special Hindi exhibition was also showcased during the event.
The event concluded with serving of traditional Indian snacks.
