Ambassador’s Remarks at the Special Yoga Session
( Morondava, 13 June 2025)

Governor of Menabe Region H.E. Mr. Randriantsoa Mong Wai Tune Serge Lucky,

Prefect of Morondava Mr. Rafidison Fidele,

Mayor of Morondava Mr. Randrianantenaina Gilberto,

Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen,

Namaste, Salama, Good Morning! It is my pleasure to visit the beautiful city of Morondava and take part in the special curtain raiser event in the run up to the 11th International Day of Yoga, at this iconic Baobab Alley. I am deeply grateful to the Governor and other dignitaries of the Menabe Region for their strong support to this event.

2.     As you know, Yoga has been practised in India since ancient times for holistic wellness, with an emphasis on the unity of body and soul. It was at the initiative of Prime Minister of India H.E. Mr. Narendra Modi that the United Nations General Assembly had adopted a resolution in 2014 declaring 21 June as the International Day of Yoga. I would like to thank the Government of Madagascar for supporting the promotion of Yoga across the country. I am also glad that the people of Madagascar are benefiting from the free classes of Yoga conducted daily at the Embassy in Antananarivo.

3.      I would like to conclude by reaffirming that in line with the ancient Indian philosophy of "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (The World is One Family)" and Vision MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth for Across the Regions), India stands ready to share its developmental experience and expertise as per the needs of Madagascar. I am confident that today's special Yoga session in the picturesque city of Morondava will help to further strengthen India-Madagascar partnership, especially in the field of tourism. Once again, I thank you all for taking part in today’s special curtain raiser Yoga event.
