India-Madagascar sign a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the fields of Agriculture and Allied Sectors.

With a view to develop further the existing friendly relations between India and Madagascar, through the development of cooperation in the field of agriculture and allied sectors, agricultural technology & machinery and fertilizer production, both the countries have signed a Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) on 29 February 2016. The above MoU has been signed by Governments of India and Madagascar recognizing the importance of strengthening the agriculture sector of both the countries.

The Objectives of the MoU is to promote cooperation in the fields of agricultural science including research; agricultural production including rice; seed production and certification; fertilizer; farm machinery; irrigation system between the two countries through joint activities and exchanges as per the laws and policies of both the countries. The cooperation also envisages exchange of information, trainees and study visits as mutually agreed upon.


The MoU was signed by H.E. Mme Atallah Beatrice Jeanine, Foreign Minister in the presence of H.E. Mr. Roland Ravatomanga, Minister of Agriculture on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Madagascar and H.E. Chandra Ballabh Thapliyal, Ambassador of India to the Republic of Madagascar on behalf of the Government of the Republic of India.
