14th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas
 
The Ministry of External Affairs and Government of India is organizing 14th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention(PBD-2017) from 7 to 9 January 2017 in Bengaluru, State of Karnataka. A new website under URL : https://pbdindia.gov.in/ has already become functional and contains details of the programme for the PBD Convention. The Theme of the 14th PBD will be “Redefining Engagement with the Indian Diaspora.”
 
2.        Following are the salient features of the PBD 2017:
 
i)         7 January 2017: Youth PBD, a new element organized since the 13th PBD, mainly for NRI and PIO youth of 18 to 30 years, will be inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister of External Affairs, Smt. Sushma Swaraj and Minister of Youth Affairs. The event includes a Plenary Session on ‘Problems faced by Indian students abroad and NRI students in India’. All four Know India Programme groups to participate on 7 and 8 January 2017.
 
ii)         Plenary Session 7 January: Fuelling growth through disruptive innovations - Start-ups ecosystem in Karnataka – organized by the State Government of Karnataka.
 
iii)        8 January 2017: Inauguration of 14th PBD by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi followed by PM’s keynote address.
 
iv)        Plenary Session, 9 January 2017:Innovate, Invent and Invest in Karnataka
 
v)         9 January 2017: Valedictory Address by Hon’ble President Shri Pranab Mukherjee, who will also confer the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Samman Awards.
 
3.         Delegates who are keen to participate are requested to kindly register either individually or as a group online and make payment of Registration Fees through the Payment Gateway on the portalhttps://pbdindia.gov.in/ . Members of the Indian community are requested to register for the event at the earliest and make the event a grand success.
