ITEC DAY 2016 celebrated with great fervor in Madagascar

The Embassy of India in Madagascar celebrated the ITEC DAY 2016, on Friday 11th November, 2016 at Ambassador’s Residence in Analamahitsy, Antananarivo. Apart from the ITEC Alumni, members of diplomatic missions including Ambassador of Japan, Mauritius, Turkey, Algeria, Vatican and Chargé d’Affaires of Libya & Indonesia were present. In all over 175 guests including prominent members of Indian diaspora attended the function.
The programme started with the speech by the Ambassador of India, HEM Chandra Ballabh Thapliyal outlining the tenets of the ITEC programme for developing countries of the Government of India. He also requested the Malagasy dignitaries present in the function to make efforts to fully utilize the ITEC slots allocated to Madagascar so that the country could take maximum benefit of trained manpower in its development. 
Thereafter, the chief guest, Mrs Vero Randrianarisoa, Director of Human Resources at Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted the importance of the training courses under ITEC programme for  capacity building of Malagasy professionals. She hoped that the number of beneficiaries would increase not only for public sector but also private sector. 
The discourses were followed by dance performances by ITEC Alumni & Friends of India and experience sharing by ITEC alumni who had gone to India. The guests also participated actively in the dance along with ITEC alumni. The cultural extravaganza which also included Bollywood dances, was widely appreciated by the audience. At the end of the programme, Indian delicacies were offered to the guests. 
In Madagascar, more than 600 professionals have so far benefitted from the ITEC programme.
